I was lucky to get the opportunity to evaluate this pan, via the Amazon Vine program.
Having aging spring form pans at home, I jumped on the opportunity.
My experience is limited to at the moment, a single usage and initial receipt of the pan.
PACKAGING:
All the packaging is in German, but like many European products, there are many pictures and graphics indicating it's use. Without translating, I could determine this:
1. Use is for Baking, Serving and Transporting.
2. Good for temps up to 230 degrees C (446 degrees F)
3. Spring form is Teflon coated.
4. Okay to use knives on base.
5. 5 year warranty
6. Lemon safe (assume this means acid resistant)
7. Base is Dishwasher safe, Spring form is recommended hand wash as is the cover.
8. Catches spills
9. XXL size 6.5cm (2.6 inches)tall cake side
10. 0.7mm (.03 inch) thick spring form side.
11. Can release spring form after 10 minutes cooling.
12. Spring form should not have sharp knives or abrasive pads used on it.
13. Cover should not have sharp knives or abrasive pads used on it.
14. Cover can not go in the oven.
15. Suggests coating with oil/butter, or some form of slippery agent prior to use.
16. Wash before use.
Dimensions are per the packaging:
Cake area: 28 cm (11 inches) in diameter, 6.5 cm (2.6 inches) in height.
Cover size: 34 cm (13-3/8 inches) in diameter, 14 cm (5.5 inches) in height.
Dimensions are by my measuring:
Cake area: 10-1/2 inches in diameter, 2-3/16 in height
Cover size with pan attached: 12-1/2 inches in diameter, 5-1/2 inches in height.
CONSTRUCTION:
This pan is interesting as it is has the drip edge built around the base of the pan, so when you put the spring form on it, it is very secure. Instead of needing to hold this pan by cupping your hands around the outside of the spring form and hoping it holds the base, the lip on the outside of the base makes it a secure hold on the bottom of the pan. Also if your baked goods run over, this edge will catch any drips.
The cover is a well made plastic with an handle on top. Once you get it on, it feels secure. When you align the edges, and catch the edges in the slots on the base, there are stops on the plastic, so you can get a secure fit. This is a nice touch. You have to pay attention when aligning the cover, to be sure the edges of the cover are in the base slots and this is true all around. Otherwise it could give you a false sense of being secure, and then it could release unexpectedly. I noticed this when putting the cover on. I did it wrong a few times. It would be better if foolproof, but tricky with plastic, as it is flexible.
The handle on top is simple and well made and is streamlined with the cover, so nice for storage.
FIRST USAGE:
I made a cheese cake. Anyone who knows how heavy this can be, can appreciate a good grip on the base. I made a recipe I was familiar with and it turned out well. No drips, easy spring form release. The only concern I had, was that my recipe called for 475 degrees F for 10 minutes and the max 230 degrees C (446 degrees F) gave me pause. This pan was fine, no warping, no damage.
SUMMARY:
I was pleased with the base construction. It made it feel secure to put this pan in the oven. It also makes the spring form fit well. The cover fit well too. I will add to this review over the life of the pan...However making cakes and a New Year's resolution to lose weight, don't jive really well.
