Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Swissgold? Cone-Shape Coffee FilterCustomer Review: Great coffee filter Summary: 5 StarsThis is a great little coffee filter, and I've been happily using it for over a year now.
For some reason, every time I clean out the coffee grinds in my filter, my mind is reminded of the review that I read here on Amazon...
"The distributor says that the filter is very sensitive, and the cracks are from tapping the filter against the lid of the garbage can to get the grounds out. Since that's the only way to remove wet grounds without washing them all down the drain, this filter is clearly too sensitive for me. Anyone who uses the tap technique should not purchase this item."
Honestly, I don't know what this person's problem is. Maybe they leave their coffee grinds in the filter from Friday morning until the following Monday's pot of coffee, but I have never had any issues...
I throw away my grinds in the garbage, and have never had to do anything more than a single swift flick of the wrist to get all the grinds out and into the garbage can. A quick rinse after that in the sink, and it's good to go to the drying rack before the next use.
If you really have to tap your coffee filter violently against your garbage can lid to get the grinds out, maybe you have some other issues. Maybe it is time to switch to decaf, clean a little more quickly after the coffee is done, or upgrade your coffee grinder (I can imagine a really fine grind might make things different?)...
Separate from this mental reminder every time I clean the filter... The metal filter is actually quite great for flavor enhancement of my coffee. And I don't waste coffee filters every day, cleanup is easier, and this particular filter has lasted a lot longer than the metal filter that came with my coffee maker.
Customer Review: Swissgold cone shape coffee filter Summary: 5 StarsMy brother, who roasts his own coffee, recommended this filter. We are so happy that we bought it. We used paper filters and when we switched to the Swissgold filter, we noticed the change in the taste of the coffee, it was much better! If you love good coffee, this filter will allow all of the flavor to come through. I am very happy with it!
Customer Review: Fabulous Summary: 5 StarsThis Swissgold Cone-Shape Coffee Filter is just perfect. It cleans easily and save money.
Customer Review: Works great Summary: 5 StarsWorks great and cleans up easy. Can't compare it to less expensive options, but I would certainly purchase this again.
Customer Review: Lets the coffee through too fast Summary: 3 StarsThe biggest issue I have with the filter is it lets the water flow the grounds through *way* too fast, making a weaker cup than usual. The first time I used this, I actually poured the water over the grounds twice to get something that looks like a regular cup of coffee.
The filters I'm used to using are paper Filtropa, and I usually use about 2TBS coffee per 8 oz cup. I think I'll stick with the paper until I run out. The paper filters have no problem making a decent cup.
I'm using the Swissgold filter with a one-cup pour-over filter holder from Sweet Maria's and 195+ degree F filtered water.
